TANGGUNG JAWAB SOSIAL DALAM PERSPEKTIF HADIS DAN PEMIKIRAN SYEKH YUSUF AL-QARDHAWI

Abstract

Social responsibility is one of the fundamental principles in Islamic teachings, firmly grounded in the hadiths of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and systematically developed by contemporary Muslim thinkers, among whom Shaykh Yusuf al-Qaradawi stands out. This article aims to examine the concept of social responsibility from the perspective of hadith and to analyze its relevance to Yusuf al-Qaradawi’s thought within the context of modern social realities. The study employs a qualitative approach using library research methods. Data were collected from primary sources, including classical hadith compilations and the works of Yusuf al-Qaradawi, as well as secondary sources such as relevant academic books and journal articles. The findings indicate that the Prophet’s hadiths position social responsibility as a manifestation of faith that is not merely individual in nature but also communal. Principles such as concern for the poor, social justice, solidarity, and the obligation of amr ma‘rūf nahy munkar constitute the foundation of Islamic social ethics. Yusuf al-Qaradawi expands the understanding of these hadiths through a maqāṣid al-sharī‘ah approach, framing social responsibility as both a moral and structural obligation relevant to global challenges such as poverty, social inequality, and humanitarian crises. This article affirms that the integration of Prophetic hadiths and Yusuf al-Qaradawi’s thought provides a comprehensive conceptual framework for strengthening Islamic social ethics in the contemporary era
