Abstract

Health education is one of the strategic efforts to improve the quality of maternal health during pregnancy and to prevent complications of pregnancy and childbirth. Adequate knowledge and positive attitudes among pregnant women play an important role in decision-making related to health behaviors throughout pregnancy. This article aims to examine the effect of health education on improving the knowledge and attitudes of pregnant women. The study employs a descriptive-analytical approach through a literature review of various scientific sources, including books, health reports, and journal articles relevant to health education and maternal health. The findings indicate that structured and continuous health education is able to enhance pregnant women’s knowledge regarding pregnancy, nutrition, danger signs of pregnancy, and the importance of antenatal care visits. In addition, health education also has a positive effect on shaping more caring, proactive, and responsible attitudes among pregnant women toward their own health and that of their fetuses. Thus, health education is proven to be an effective intervention in supporting the improvement of maternal health and should continue to be integrated into midwifery services and community health programs.
