MODEL PENDIDIKAN KESEHATAN BERBASIS KOMUNITAS DALAM UPAYA PENINGKATAN KESEHATAN IBU DAN ANAK

Health education is one of the essential strategies for improving maternal and child health status. However, top-down health education approaches are often less effective because they do not fully consider the social, cultural, and local wisdom contexts of the community. This article aims to examine community-based health education models as an effort to enhance maternal and child health. The study employs a qualitative approach using a literature review method by analyzing various scientific sources, including books, health reports, and journal articles relevant to community health education and maternal and child health. The findings indicate that community-based health education models are able to improve community knowledge, attitudes, and health behaviors through the active participation of individuals and groups within the community. The involvement of health cadres, community leaders, and health professionals particularly midwives serves as a key factor in the success of this model. Community-based health education has also proven to be more adaptive to local needs and more sustainable than conventional approaches. This article concludes that the implementation of community-based health education models has significant potential in supporting maternal and child health programs, especially in efforts to prevent stunting, increase antenatal care visits, and monitor child growth and development. Therefore, this model needs to be continuously developed and integrated into primary health care service programs.
